Earlier in September we travelled to Colchester for three days to provide event media services for the European CrossFit Championships 2021. After 18 months of no competitions, and certainly no audiences, it was great to be back in the arena and filming the best athletes going full send in pursuit of glory.
Day One // Run – Paddle – Run
The first day kicked off with a 1km run, followed by an 800m no legs paddleboard round the lake, before back into the 1km run (but with the added fun of a sandbag to carry). The sun shot, the tunes blasted and it was a true festival of fitness.
Aimee Cringle of CrossFit IOM comfortably took the RX win, thanks largely to a strong background in running.
Day Two // Into the Arena
Things got spicy on the second day as we moved into the arena. Fans particularly enjoyed seeing Russian Olympic Weightlifting legend Dmitri Klokov perform the barbell complex with a light 150kg because he was taking it easy to rest a hamstring injury. Pretty sure only one guy managed more and it was a huge lifetime PB for him.

Day 3 // Last push: semi finals and finals
Into the final day of competition and the heat was brought. Lots of brutal workouts, many souls taken and an outstanding head to head between Aimee Cringle and Solveig Sigurdadottir for the European CrossFit Championships 2021 female RX title. Calum Clements of CrossFit Denia secured the male title. But beyond that, there were some outstanding displays of grit and sportsmanship through every category from teen to 40+ Masters.
